The APSARA National Authority (ANA) has called on content creators and artists, as well as the public, to ensure that images and videos produced at the Angkor Archaeological Park respect cultural values and comply with the existing regulations aimed at protecting the country’s most important heritage site.
In a March 9 public appeal, the authority thanked citizens from all walks of life for their continued support in preserving and promoting Cambodia’s cultural heritage and traditions through visits, photography and video performances at the Angkor complex.
“The ANA welcomes creative activities that demonstrate respect for the country’s cultural identity and contribute to promoting Cambodia’s rich traditions in cooperation with relevant ministries and institutions,” sit said.
According to the statement, most visitors and content creators comply with the conditions that are in place.
However, the authority noted that some gaps remain, warning that certain activities could negatively affect society, the Kingdom’s cultural values or the integrity of the heritage site.
To address these concerns, it explained that APSARA officials, including tourism and security personnel, may conduct inspections and question individuals involved in filming that appears inappropriate or potentially harmful.
The authority highlighted several activities that may violate the Angkor code of conduct, including staged performances, wearing inappropriate clothing, fashion shows, disruptive behaviour, unauthorised product advertising and activities that obstruct visitors or disrupt public order at the site.
It asked the public for their understanding and urged them to cooperate with APSARA officials as they carry out their duties, and called for social media users to delete any content that could disrespect the national heritage site.
