The Consumer Protection Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate-General (CCF) is preparing to take action against the importers, distributers and vendors of oranges that bear the Royal Arms of Cambodia and has ordered an immediate halt to their sale.
In a February 13 statement, the CCF noted that following complaints from the public, officials discovered that some vendors are selling oranges bearing brands or logos that are identical to, imitate or bear a close resemblance to the Royal Arms.
The CCF warned that individuals who commit offenses by using this symbol will face severe penalties and fines.
“All merchants and vendors who sell or distribute these products stop doing so immediately and temporarily sequester products bearing the aforementioned marks or symbols. They must cooperate with the CCF Directorate-General of the Ministry of Commerce to implement investigation procedures to trace the sources of production, import and distribution of these products,” it said.
The CCF requested that consumers avoid purchasing products bearing the aforementioned marks or symbols and report any information about them to the CCF directorate-general so that procedural action can be taken.
The origin of the imported fruit was not disclosed.
