A group of journalists from eight organisations took part in distributing fresh milk, snacks and essential supplies to displaced children and families at the Wat Dach Phreat sanctuary in Bavel district, Battambang province.
The generous December 14 activity was carried out with the journalists’ own funds, with additional support from friends and relatives.
The initiative was led by Soyanerayrat Thunn, an adviser to the Ministry of Information.
“This is a small contribution from myself and my friends and relatives who have compassion for the affected children,” Thunn said.
“We wanted the children to receive additional food and feel that they are not left alone during this difficult time,” she added.
Phen Lyna, said she raised funds from colleagues and contributed her own money to purchase milk for young children, sending the support through the group of journalists.
“I hope the children will enjoy the milk during this difficult journey,” she told The Post. “It can help ease their hunger and reduce stress.”
As of 5pm on December 13, Wat Dach Phreat was hosting 671 displaced families, totalling more than 2,000 people, including about 800 children.
Across Battambang province, the total number of displaced people stood at 7,587 families, or 25,800 individuals, including nearly 10,000 children.
