Exports from factories operating within the UBE Snuol Special Economic Zone(SEZ) have shown remarkable growth.
In the first ten months of the year, exports exceeded $100 million, compared to just $80 million for the whole of 2024, according to a press release from the Secretariat of the Working Group to Promote Investment in the Northeastern Region (SPIN Working Group).
The SPIN release explained that, in order to monitor the progress of the SPIN programme, Sim Vireak, undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Economy and Finance and head of the SPIN secretariat, led a delegation on a November 11 inspection tour of the SEZ.
The visit included representatives from the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), provincial authorities and other stakeholders.
Exports from the SEZ have grown significantly, totalling more than $100 million during the first 10 months of 2025, compared to just $79.6 million in all of 2024. Major export destinations include the US, Brazil, China, the EU, Turkiye, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, India and Indonesia.
Five manufacturers currently operate in the SEZ.
They are Newbustar (Cambodia) Tire Co., Ltd., tyres, HKZQ Energy and Technology Co., Ltd, a steam and hot air equipment, Firemax (Cambodia) Tires Co., Ltd., tyres, Yaokun (Cambodia) Mold Co., Ltd., tyre moulds, and Zhongqi Photovoltaic Technology (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., solar panels.
The UBE Snuol Special Economic Zone is located in Kratie province’s Snuol district, about 5 kilometres from the Trapeang Sre International Border Checkpoint, a vital transport hub in the Northeastern region. Total investment capital in the SEZ was reportedly around $200 million.
SPIN secretariat head Vireak noted that investment projects under the programme bring numerous benefits to investors. The Cambodian government has consistently instructed relevant working groups to maintain regular contact with investors, listen to their concerns and provide full support and facilitation.
“Visits to investment sites is one of the fundamental activities of the SPIN working group. We provide investment aftercare, which encourages investors to continue or expand their projects,” he explained.
“We also encourage investors to expand the value of production chains through the use of local raw materials, and to train and transfer skills to Cambodian workers,” he added.
Representatives of the SEZ development company shared their commitment to develop the zone into a major tyre manufacturing hub. They aim to do so by attracting more companies and supporting industries — particularly rubber processing factories that will use local raw materials to supply production chains.
The SPIN programme was launched by Prime Minister Hun Manet in April. It aims to promote investment in priority sectors such as agriculture, agro-industry and tourism through special incentives within four Northeastern provinces, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakkiri and Mondulkiri.
