More than 1,619 exhibitors and 8,045 registered buyers from 130 countries, including 25 Cambodian businesses, are taking part in the 40th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2025.
Organised by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, the five-day event opened on Wednesday October 15, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang.
Themed “Discover Indonesia’s Excellence: Trade Beyond Boundaries”, this year’s expo serves as a global platform to connect international buyers with Indonesian producers.
The ministry has set the ambitious target of $16.5 billion in trade transactions through business matching, exhibitions and trade forums during the event.
The Cambodian delegation is exploring opportunities in food and beverages, manufacturing and general consumer products, sectors where Indonesia has established strong global competitiveness.
Indonesian ambassador to Cambodia Santo Darmosumarto believed the participation of Cambodian entrepreneurs underscores the deepening trade links between the two countries.
“Indonesia is ready to become a reliable and long-term source for Cambodian consumer products,” noted Santo.
“The expo provides a valuable opportunity for Cambodian businesses to discover Indonesia’s quality goods and meet potential partners for future cooperation,” he added.
Indonesia and Cambodia have seen growing trade volumes in recent years, particularly in processed food, household goods, construction materials and agricultural exports.
Cambodian firms’ involvement at TEI highlights ongoing efforts to expand ASEAN intra-trade collaboration and reinforce regional supply chain resilience.

Indonesia’s export momentum and vision
During the opening ceremony, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, representing President Prabowo Subianto, highlighted Indonesia’s strong export performance.
“As of this month, our national export value has grown by more than 7 per cent compared to last year, with the trade surplus rising to $29 billion,” he said.
“This is an outstanding achievement made possible by everyone’s hard work. Through cooperation and optimism, Indonesia will continue to strengthen its position as a highly competitive economic power in global markets,” he added.
Minister of Trade Budi Santoso said the expo demonstrates the government’s commitment to realizing the Asta Cita Vision, which focuses on downstream industrialisation and strengthening Indonesia’s role in global supply chains toward Golden Indonesia 2045.
“TEI is a concrete realisation of Indonesia’s vision to enhance export quality and expand global market access,” he explained.
“It brings together the best of Indonesian products, from food and agriculture to manufacturing and lifestyle services,” he added.

Business forums, awards, and partnerships
Besides exhibitions, TEI 2025 features business matching, trade missions and international seminars aimed at promoting new investments and export partnerships.
During the opening, Budi presented the Primaniyarta Awards to outstanding exporters and regional leaders for boosting Indonesia’s global brand presence and pioneering new export markets.
The Primaduta Awards were also given to loyal buyers and Indonesian ambassadors who have helped expand non-oil and gas exports.
Notably, the Indonesian embassy in Phnom Penh received a Primaduta Award last year for its active role in promoting Indonesian exports to Cambodia — an achievement that has inspired continued trade collaboration between the two nations.
This year’s TEI also integrates the “Pangan Nusa” Exhibition, which celebrates Indonesia’s diverse culinary heritage.
The showcase features premium regional food products and offers a gateway for international buyers — including those from Cambodia — to explore Indonesia’s emerging food innovation and culinary tourism sectors.
“This exhibition also serves as a platform for national culinary entrepreneurs to showcase their products and open collaboration opportunities to global markets,” Budi added.
Toward Golden Indonesia 2045
With consistent export growth — marking 64 consecutive months of trade surplus — and new international trade agreements signed with Peru, Canada and the EU, Indonesia aims to cement its status as a global trading powerhouse.
Budi expressed gratitude to all partners, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kadin Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, Pertamina, and BPDPKS, for their support in organising the event.
“With the spirit of cooperation and optimism we build together,” he said, “Indonesia will continue to strengthen its position as a highly competitive global economic power for the prosperity of our nation and the well-being of the global community.”
