Given the tense situation along the border, it is incumbent upon both parties to refrain from actions that appear threatening, instigating or in opposition to the spirit of the peace agreement.
Thailand’s diplomatic relations may be oriented toward the peace process, but the on-the-ground reality shows a sustained military campaign to exploit tactical opportunities along the border that undermine peace. This armed conflict is not a game; it is a serious matter with life-and-death implications that deserves greater respect by the Thai military.
