Song Saran, chairman of the Board of Directors at the CRF, stated that over the past decade, rice milling factories in Cambodia have received increased support from the government to enhance their competitiveness in international markets.
He added that government interventions in the rice sector include tax exemptions, streamlined export services, financial support via the Rural and Agricultural Development Bank, strengthened irrigation infrastructure, and a stronger focus on crop cultivation and seed system development.
“A solid foundation for the progressive growth of rice production has been clearly established. Production rose from over 8 million tonnes to more than 14 million tonnes in 2024, allowing us to ensure food security and export over 650,000 tonnes of milled rice and more than 5 million tonnes of paddy rice in 2024,” he explained.
In 2024, Cambodia exported 651,522 tonnes of milled rice, earning $491.19 million. In addition, the country exported 5.18 million tons of paddy rice, generating $1.496 billion.
