Cambodia plans to establish an institute to provide a place for genocide study and the success of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), known as the Khmer Rouge Tribunal. Senate president Hun Sen Has informed Japanese ambassador Atsushi Ueno that there is no room for extremist groups in a democratic society. He expected that without such groups, democracy will flourish. Hun Sen met with Ueno at the Japanese embassy on May 18, following an invitation by the ambassador. The Humanitarian Demining Research and Development (HD R&D) Programme, the Cambodian Mine Action Authority (CMAA) and demining operators are currently holding discussions on the use of new technologies for better, faster, safer, lower cost and more efficient demining operations. During the May 20-21 Technology Requirement Workshop, Sean Burke, director of HD R&D, said that the programme had contributed to demining actions through new technology since 2006. Credit Bureau Cambodia (CBC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Korea Credit Bureau (KCB) and Jeonbuk (JB) Bank to seek mutual collaboration in establishing cross-border credit report sharing between Cambodia and South Korea. The aim is to enable the cross-border sharing of credit reports for Cambodians living in South Korea. More than 50,000 Cambodians are estimated to be living in Korea, while over 10,000 Korean individuals reside in Cambodia.
