Real estate and other property worth millions of dollars have been confiscated by anti-drug police in an anti-drug operation in which nearly 200kg of narcotics were seized. The Ministry of Interior’s Anti-Drug Department reported in an April 28 social media post that it had conducted a recent anti-drug operation in Phnom Penh, starting from April 24. Senate president Hun Sen has made it clear that Cambodia will not back down or negotiate with any country regarding the 180km Funan Techo Canal. Temperatures are expected to soar as high as 42 degrees Celsius across the weekend, especially in the Kingdom’s northern highlands, as a result of the El Nino phenomenon. The Funan Techo Canal project will not have any serious environmental impacts and will bring only economic benefits, say analysts, despite some criticism from Vietnamese commentators and other critics abroad. The project was announced last year following 26 months of feasibility studies, with the total cost expected to be close to $1.7 billion.
