A meaningful morning of unity, purpose, and impact unfolded at the ACE Charity Walk – Walk to Save Lives, a 5-kilometre community event dedicated to raising funds for Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital and supporting its life-saving care for children across Cambodia.

Held at the National Olympic Stadium, the event brought together around 1,500 participants, including students, educators, business leaders, embassy representatives, and families—demonstrating the power of collective action in support of a shared humanitarian cause.

The event was presided over by HE Dr Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, reflecting the Royal Government’s strong commitment to advancing education, healthcare, and community wellbeing.

Distinguished guests joining the walk included HE Dr Kem Sethany, MOEYS Secretary of State, HE Christian DesRoches, Ambassador of Canada to Cambodia and Madam, Ms Bridget Collier, Chargé d’Affaires of the Australian Embassy in Cambodia, Ms Tennealle O’Shannessy, Chief Executive Officer of IDP Education, Mr Raja Sood, IDP Regional Director, and Mr Sreng Mao, Country Director of IDP Education and the Australian Centre for Education (ACE), Mr Ashley Irving, ACE Principal and President of Australian Chamber of Commerce, Mr Martin Darby, Executive Director of British Chamber of Commerce.

The morning began with an energising warm-up session led by coaches from the SUSU Running Team, followed by the National Anthem of Cambodia and opening remarks, before participants set off on the 5-kilometre walk under the shared theme of “Walk to Save Lives.”

More than just a charity event, the initiative reflects the broader mission of the Australian Centre for Education (ACE) to nurture not only academic excellence, but also values of compassion, responsibility, and service among its students and community.

As the founder of this CSR initiative, Mr Sreng Mao emphasised the deeper purpose behind the event: “The ACE Charity Walk is about more than fundraising — it is about bringing people together to make a meaningful difference. When our students, partners, and community walk side by side for a cause, we are instilling values of empathy, responsibility, and shared purpose that extend far beyond the classroom.”

The event was supported by a wide network of partners, sponsors, and institutions, reflecting a strong cross-sector commitment to social responsibility. Their contributions, prominently displayed across event materials and participant shirts, symbolised a unified effort to support children in need.

Following the walk, participants gathered for a networking and celebration session, engaging with partner booths, taking photos, and celebrating the success of the initiative.

Funds raised from the event will directly support Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital, which continues to provide free, high-quality medical care to millions of Cambodian children each year.

The strong turnout and enthusiastic participation highlight the growing role of educational institutions like ACE in driving meaningful community engagement and contributing to national development.

Together, the event served as a powerful reminder that when communities unite with purpose, even small steps can create lasting impact.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all participants, partners, sponsors, and volunteers who made the ACE Charity Walk 2026 a success. Together, we walk not only for today—but for a healthier, brighter future, Sreng added.
