The Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) and the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) have reiterated that they will continue implementing the “Measures to Alleviate the People Affected by the Cambodia–Thailand Border Conflict”, which were issued by the National Bank of Cambodia on July 30.

A December 10 joint press release from ABC and CMA, stated that due to the renewed clashes along the Cambodia–Thailand border — conflict that has impacted the lives and livelihoods of residents — both associations wish to inform the public that they remain committed to implementing the relief measures issued by the NBC.

The statement explained that, in the spirit of solidarity and humanitarianism, and in order to ease the burden on soldiers directly operating on the battlefield as well as civilians affected by the border conflict, banking institutions, microfinance institutions and other financial institutions that are members of the two associations are committed to supporting their affected clients in line with the above measures.

The press release concluded by stating: “Both associations are fully prepared to implement all instructions from the National Bank of Cambodia as well as the Royal Government of Cambodia”.
