Woori Bank (Cambodia) Plc today announced that it has successfully achieved Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) certification, a globally recognized benchmark for safeguarding cardholder data and ensuring the highest standards of security for card and digital banking transactions.

PCI DSS is an internationally mandated security framework established by major global payment brands, including Visa, to protect sensitive payment card information throughout the transaction lifecycle. Achieving this certification requires comprehensive and independent assessments by Qualified Security Assessors (QSA), validating robust controls across system security, data protection, vulnerability management, and secure transaction processing.

This certification is aligned with the regulatory expectations of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and global payment schemes, reinforcing Woori Bank’s commitment to regulatory compliance, international best practices, and strong cybersecurity governance.

Mr. Shin DongWoo, acting CEO of Woori Bank (Cambodia) Plc., stated: “Achieving PCI DSS certification underscores our unwavering commitment to protecting customer data and operating in accordance with the highest international security and regulatory standards. As digital banking continues to expand, we are dedicated to providing our customers with a secure, trusted, and resilient platform for all card and online transactions.”

This milestone positions Woori Bank (Cambodia) Plc among the leading financial institutions in Cambodia advancing cybersecurity resilience and digital trust. The certification process involved rigorous reviews of governance policies, IT systems, and operational controls to ensure full compliance with global security benchmarks and regulatory expectations.

The certification further strengthens the Bank’s digital ecosystem by ensuring:

  • Robust protection of sensitive cardholder data through internationally recognized security controls
  • Continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, and risk mitigation to reduce cybersecurity threats
  • A safer and more resilient digital banking environment across all card and online channels
  • Enhanced trust and confidence among customers, merchants, business partners, and regulators

Mr. Eat Chetrasorivong Chief Information Officer, added: “Security is at the core of our digital transformation journey. PCI DSS certification demonstrates our commitment to delivering secure, modern, and customer-centric financial services. It also strengthens our security foundation as we advance our core banking modernization, cloud adoption, and AI-enabled digital capabilities.”

Woori Bank (Cambodia) Plc will continue strengthening its cybersecurity capabilities while investing in advanced technologies that support secure digital payments and financial innovation.
