Prak Sokhonn, Foreign Minister of Cambodia, has wrapped up his week at the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and related meetings, held in Jakarta, Indonesia from July 11 to 14.
In a social media post dated July 15, Sokhonn detailed the significant progress made during the meetings, highlighting that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia and South Africa ascended to the status of an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner.
He expressed, “Our solidarity and unity enabled ASEAN to issue the Joint Communique of the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, under the able leadership of Indonesia, this year’s ASEAN Chair. Keeping an eye on the latest regional developments, ASEAN proactively issued a statement on the Ballistic Missile Launch on the Korean Peninsula”.
He further mentioned that the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Post Ministerial Conference (AMM-PMC) successfully adopted numerous statements and documents supporting the community building efforts of the bloc.
Sokhonn extended his appreciation to Retno Marsudi, foreign minister of Indonesia, and everyone else who contributed to the warm hospitality and superb organisation of the event.
He stated, “As we bid farewell to Jakarta, we leave with a sense of accomplishment and renewed inspiration. ASEAN remains dedicated to promoting unity, peace, and prosperity for all its member states and the wider region”.
He ended by saying, “Together, we will continue to strive as the region’s epicentre of growth and prosperity”.
