At least 25 people died in traffic accidents during the first six days of November, including 13 deaths that occurred over the three days of the Water Festival.

On Friday, November 7, Touch Sokhak, deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, stated that from November 1 to November 6 — a period that included the three-day Royal Water Festival — traffic accidents claimed 25 lives, while more than 50 others were injured, some of them seriously.

The spokesperson described these numbers as “a deeply concerning sign once again for the month of November”.

During the three days of the Water Festival, from November 4 to 6, 26 road accidents were reported nationwide, resulting in 13 deaths and 33 injuries.

He added that the fatal accidents during the 2025 Water Festival occurred in Phnom Penh and the provinces of Kandal, Kampong Speu, Kampot, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Kampong Thom, Koh Kong, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Preah Vihear, Stung Treng, Mondulkiri and Kratie.
