The current large-scale crackdown on online scams in Cambodia prompted 110,095 foreigners of six nationalities to leave Cambodia between January and early February 2026, while Operation “Clean Our House” continues.

A February 5 report from the Secretariat of Commission for Combating Technology Crimes (CCTC) stated that from January 1 to early February 2026, the capital and provincial joint forces and authorities shut down technology crime activities at a total of 190 locations, including 44 casinos.

The operations took place across the country, in Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kandal, Svay Rieng, Phnom Penh, Pursat, Prey Veng and Mondulkiri provinces. Authorities confiscated vast amounts of evidence, including computers, phones and SIM cards, and prepared case files to pursue legal action.

Authorities detained 2,508 suspects. They are working closely with authorities from China, the US, South Korea and others to uncover the organised networks behind these cases.

“These operations prompted 110,095 foreigners of six nationalities — including Chinese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Indian, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani — to leave Cambodia between January and early February 2026,” said the CCTC.

Within the last eight months, Cambodian courts have implemented legal procedures on 37 major cases and convicted 172 ringleaders and accomplices, it added, citing a Ministry of Justice report.

The CCTC described these actions as demonstrating a genuine will alongside strict law enforcement in combating technology crime scams nationwide without exception, in order to protect economic security and social order in Cambodia, the region and the world.

“Cambodia is not a place cybercriminals can use for committing scams or transnational crimes. Any individual or entity behind these scam activities will face the most severe penalties without any leniency or intervention,” said the report.

Touch Sokhak, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, stated on February 4 that Cambodia aims to completely eradicate technology crimes by this coming April.

Concurrently, Prime Minister Hun Manet has requested participation from citizens to “clean the house” thoroughly, in reference to the current crackdown.
