The Ministry of Interior stated that Thai marines seized a cache of Cambodian weapons from a land border police post – where they had encroached into Cambodian territory – not at a casino as they have claimed.

In a press statement issued on January 6, the ministry spokesperson said Thai media had quoted Thai naval experts who falsely alleged that the weapons were seized from the “Thma Da Casino compound”.

The ministry added that the weapons were located at the Road 56 Land Border Police Post, subordinate to Land Border Police Battalion No. 825 of the Pursat Provincial Police Commissariat, which is situated entirely within the sovereignty of Cambodia.

“The dissemination of this fake news demonstrates an undeniable malicious and dirty intent, contrary to the content stated in Point 8 of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand on December 27, 2025, in which both parties agreed to avoid distributing false information or fake news in order to reduce tension, minimise negative public opinion and promote a favourable atmosphere for peaceful dialogue,’ the spokesperson said.

The ministry added that the seizure of weapons inside the Cambodian police post was an act of robbery that clearly reflects a ‘law of the jungle’ approach by the Thai government and military to invade Cambodian territory, and that the Thai side must be held accountable before international law without evasion.
