The National Assembly of Cambodia (NA) has expressed profound disappointment regarding the announcement by Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, president of the Thai House of Representatives and speaker of the Thai Parliament, that he endorses the comments of Boonsin Padklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Region, who announced plans to seize Ta Krabey Temple and seal Ta Mone Thom temple with barbed wire before his retirement in 50 days.

The NA considers the support expressed by the speaker as undeniable evidence of provocation and a deliberate, premeditated attempt to infringe upon Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It added that this action constitutes a complete violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The assembly called upon the international community, particularly the US, Malaysia and China, to urge the Thai side to adhere to the ceasefire agreement through concrete actions by immediately ceasing all violations and removing the barbed wire barricades that have been illegally placed within Cambodia’s sovereign territory.

The NA expressed its deepest gratitude to Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, for initiating, facilitating, and hosting the Cambodia-Thailand reconciliation meeting. They also acknowledge the pivotal roles played by the US and China, as well as the sincere support from ASEAN member states, dialogue partners and other friendly countries, both regionally and worldwide.

“The encouragement and participation of all of these nations are crucial in achieving positive resolutions. In particular, we note with appreciation the role of US President Donald Trump for his collective, committed efforts toward peace, security and cooperation for the safety, longevity and well-being of the Cambodian and Thai peoples, as well as for regional stability and prosperity within a stable and prosperous ASEAN community,” it said.
