Minister of Planning Chhay Thorn has launched a data centre and information technology infrastructure, which will securely manage data, with high standards and improve the database system.

The centre will facilitate data exchange between the Ministry of Planning and other ministries through the Cambodia Data Exchange (CamDX), under the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Speaking at the August 10 inauguration of the new system, Thorn stated that the centre contains many documents which have been posted by private companies and other institutions, including identification data, sub-national data and data from the National Institute of Statistics, as well as census data surveyed by the planning ministry.

He explained that the inauguration was the first step of the process. The ministry will expand the second step in the near future, allowing the date to be accessed by all sub-national level management and provincial departments from the capital and 24 provinces.
