The Preah Sihanouk Province Investment Promotion Working Group is currently reviewing several projects which are tipped to deliver $144 million in investment capital and deliver around 1,000 jobs.
The working group met to review the 18 projects on March 25, with the participation of representatives of several national and sub-national bodies. The meeting, chaired by group head Hean Sahib and held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, marked the 24th time the body has met.
Sahib explained that the projects seeking special incentives include animal feed production factories, industrial park development, multi-purpose buildings and co-owned (strata-title) buildings.
If approved, the projects will benefit from tax incentives, customs duty exemptions, licensing facilitation, permits, certifications and company registration support.
Sahib noted that although the programme was initially set to conclude by the end of 2025, its success meant it will now run until the end of 2027.
The two-year extension perios introduced four additional objectives.
The group will promote domestic investment, encourage the use of local products, support sills and technology transfer to the local workforce, and facilitate additional skills training.
“From 2024 to February 2026, the working group approved incentive principles for 467 projects, with an estimated total investment of over $8.18 billion and the potential to create more than 55,124 jobs. These include 209 stalled buildings, 217 new projects, 26 expansions and 15 other existing projects,” said Sahib.
He highlighted that the working group is actively addressing stalled construction projects while promoting new investments, particularly in the industrial and tourism sectors.
