The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training inaugurated a two-day training course for medical staff working in infirmaries at various enterprises on March 25.
According to the ministry, the objective is to impart basic knowledge of occupational safety and health (OSH) and enhance the medical services of private businesses. It is designed to ensure that participants can fully accomplish their missions and roles in preventing job risks and occupational diseases at work, aligning with the ministry’s goals.
Ministry secretary of state Pheng Sokham underscored the significance of the training during his speech at the opening ceremony.
He emphasised that training is crucial for advancing OSH in the workplace, in line with the government’s policy and the Strategic Plan for Employment Development, Social Security and Vocational Training 2024-28.
“Through the implementation of this strategic plan, we aim to continue promoting and strengthening the enforcement of labour law and legal standards related to OSH,” he stated.
Leng Tong, director of the ministry’s OSH department, noted that the course not only enhances the skills and knowledge of enterprise medics but also presents an excellent opportunity for participants.
“The course is a valuable opportunity for enterprise medical staff in infirmaries to interact, exchange experiences and enhance healthcare services, hygiene and occupational safety for workers,” he said.
The training session is attended by 203 medics from various enterprises and establishments.
The department reported that from September 2023 to February 2024, it had provided public services to 286,254 individuals, including 197,577 women and 44,083 foreigners.
