The Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) has announced the pilot of the “Cambodia Mine Action Management Information System”, ahead of the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World.
The new system is a cutting-edge initiative designed to facilitate the efficiency and effectiveness of mine action operations throughout the Kingdom.
“The system focuses on the management of field operation information, with new features added to support the current IMSMA CORE system in data management and operational efficiency. It will facilitate demining, victim assistance and surface clearance processes,” said a March 20 CMAA statement.
Ly Thuch, first vice-president of the CMAA, addressed the launch ceremony. He expressed the expectation that significant technological developments will support the authority’s efforts to fight against landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERW) in Cambodia.
Thuch explained that the Cambodian Mine Action Management Information System is a symbol of the technological revolution. It is not just a programme or a tool, but a testament to the common mission of making Cambodia mine-free, through the use of modern technology to meet the challenges of mine action and strategic planning.
“As we move towards the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit, Cambodia is leading the way in innovating and using modern technology for the field of mine action. This underscores our unwavering commitment to addressing the effects of landmines ERWs, and our dedication to increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of humanitarian efforts around the world,” he said.
“Cambodia’s leadership has inspired a new paradigm. We are incorporating technological advances in mine action, pushing the global community towards innovative humanitarian solutions, providing more information and impact,” he added.
