UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres will touch down in Cambodia on November 10 to attend the ASEAN-UN summit, according to the November 3 daily press briefing by the Office of the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General.
“On November 10, the secretary-general will head to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where he will address the ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations)-UN summit, focusing on regional and global trends, the climate emergency, and the situation in Myanmar,” said the press briefing.
Cambodia, this year’s ASEAN chair, is hosting the summit and related meetings from November 10-13 in Phnom Penh. Several world leaders are set to attend, including US president Joe Biden.
The visit to Phnom Penh by Antonio Guterres is part of an extended mission. It will begin with the twenty-seventh UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties, known as COP27, to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
After Cambodia, he will travel to Bali, Indonesia to attend the annual Group of 20 [G20] Summit, where he will address sessions on food and energy security, and on health.
