Sixteen officials from the General Department of Land Transport (GDLT) underwent a training course centring on the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road, from February 13-17, with the cooperation and support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Speaking at the closing ceremony for the five-day course, Ministry of Public Works and Transport spokesman Vasim Sorya voiced confidence that the trainees would effectively apply the knowledge and techniques transmitted by Thai National Expert for Dangerous Goods Training Pongnarin Petchu, and suggested that they have the responsibility to share with others what they have learned.
He thanked Pongnarin for his commitment to the course, as well as JICA for financing it and working with the GDLT to carry out the training.
Sorya and JICA representative Kenichi Kobayashi asked trainees to discuss and lobby for the finalisation of a ministry prakas on dangerous goods transport.
The training session covered definitions, classifications and markings of dangerous goods; packaging; transport vehicles; equipment; documents; and special operations.
