Louise Mushikiwabo, secretary-general of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), visited the Wat Thormark Rangsey displacement camp, in Siem Reap province’s Kralanh district on March 2. The camp houses 414 families, many of them are unable to return to their homes due to Thai shipping container and razor wire barricades. An investigating judge at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court issued two separate warrants on February 27, ordering the detention of two Chinese men in connection with aggravated fraud as an organised group. The Chinese nationals, identified as Wang Zongging and Liu Dinghua, were ordered by investigating judge So Samnang to be sent to Prey Sar. In one of the latest major raids of the current anti-scam campaign, authorities arrested 81 foreigners in Borey Peng Huoth, Prek Pra commune, Chbar Ampov district, Phnom Penh. According to a report by the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Technology Crimes (CCTC), the 81 detained include 72 Chinese and 9 Burmese nationals. Authorities seized 480 phones, dozens of computers and 12 wigs. According to a forensic report, the suspects were committing technology scams, specifically “romance scams”.
