The listing of Daun Penh Agrico Co., Ltd has increased the number of companies listed on the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) to 27. The addition sees total capital raised from the Kingdom’s stock market exceed $700 million. According to some projections, by the end of this year, total capital mobilisation is expected to rise to $1 billion.
Daun Penh’s official bond listing ceremony of Daun Penh Agrico was held at the CSX on January 21.
The event was attended by CSX chair Hean Sahib, secretary of state at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Sou Socheat, director-general of the Securities Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC), Hong Sok Hour, CSX CEO, and many other stakeholders.
Daun Penh Agrico is a large-scale agricultural investment company. It employs modern technology and has invested capital in Ratanakiri and Kratie provinces. The company aims to export to markets including China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Central Asia and the Middle East.
Sahib regarded Daun Penh Agrico’s decision to issue bonds as a strong model for other domestic enterprises seeking long-term, low-cost financing.
He emphasised that the capital market is an attractive option that offers convenience, speed and flexibility for business owners, both domestic and foreign. The company has invested in several of the areas that are part of the government’s “Special Program to Promote Investment in Four Provinces, namely Kratie, Stung Treng, Mondulkiri and Ratanakiri”.
He added that by listing on the CSX, Daun Penh Agrico can raise large-scale capital at low interest rates with long maturities, which can be used to strengthen and expand business potential — particularly through enhanced operational capacity and invest in infrastructure and technology.
The CSX’s Sok Hour explained that as of the listing, the exchange lists 12 companies for equity securities and 15 for bond securities. Together, they have raised approximately $703 million from the capital market.
Socheat, said that the successful bond issuance of Daun Penh Agrico clearly demonstrates how the Cambodia capital market can complement bank financing by providing long-term and sustainable funding sources.
