Cambodia’s rice exports reached a record high in 2025, totalling more than 940,000 tonnes – an increase of nearly 50% compared to 2024 – while revenue from the sales exceeded $600 million.
Official data from the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF) shows that the country exported 940,321 tonnes of rice in 2025, marking a 45.59% increase over the previous year. Export revenue totalled $602.41 million, up 22.64%.
The CRF reported that 68 Cambodian companies exported rice to 75 destinations worldwide. These included 28 European countries, which imported 339,417 tonnes worth $258.28 million; China and its autonomous regions, which received 231,125 tonnes valued at $138.36 million; eight ASEAN member states, which imported 273,657 tonnes worth $117.62 million; and other markets accounting for 96,122 tonnes worth $88.15 million.
By rice type, exports comprised 64.02% fragrant rice, 13.71% white rice, 2% parboiled rice, 1.32% organic rice, 18.56% broken rice of all types and 0.39% other varieties.
In addition to milled rice, Cambodia earned $1.58 billion from the export of 6,859,930 tonnes of paddy rice.
The CRF stated, “Rice exports in 2025 recorded overall growth of 45.59%, while paddy rice exports increased by 32.43% compared to the same period in 2024.”
CRF president Lay Chhun Hour told The Post in December that rice exports had surged significantly in 2025, in contrast to previous years when annual volumes remained just above 600,000 tonnes.
According to Chhun Hour, rice milling facilities in Cambodia have received increasing attention and support from the government over the past decade, aimed at strengthening competitiveness in international markets.
