Despite the recent border conflict with Thailand, Cambodia’s aviation sector is showing no signs of overall decline. Instead, the number of flights and passengers passing through Cambodia’s three international airports during the first seven months of 2025 increased by almost 20%.
According to the “Cambodian Air Transport Report”, produced by the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), from January to July, the Kingdom’s three international airports (Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Preah Sihanouk) handled a total of 37,492 inbound and outbound flights — up almost 16% compared to the same period in 2024. Passenger traffic reached 4.08 million, an increase of about the same. Additionally, inbound and outbound cargo totalled 47,218 tonnes, an increase of 28%.
The report added that from June to July, the three airports saw 5,111 inbound and outbound flights, up 8%, while passenger numbers increased by 14% to 553,523. Air cargo also rose by nearly 30%, to 10,267 tonnes.
SSCA secretary of state Sinn Chanserey Vutha noted that flight operations between Cambodia and Thailand continue unabated. At present, seven airlines fly the route, including local carriers Air Cambodia and Cambodia Airways. Sky Angkor Airlines has suspended its Phnom Penh–Bangkok flights until September 20, due to market factors.
Five foreign operators also service the route: Bangkok Airways, Thai Airways International, Thai AirAsia, Thai Vietjet Air and K-Mile, cargo airline.
