A total of 66 countries and territories purchased Cambodian milled rice during the first eight months of 2025, with export volume reaching over 470,000 tonnes, an increase of nearly 15% compared to the same period in 2024. In addition to milled rice, Cambodia also exported more than 4.8 million tonnes of paddy rice to neighbouring countries.
According to the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF), from January to August 2025, the Kingdom exported 472,803 tonnes of rice to 66 international destinations, generating $348.18 million. This represents a 14.75% increase in volume compared to the 412,023 tonnes recorded during the same period in 2024. Revenue also rose by 14.1%, from $305.15 million last year.
The CRF reported that the main export destinations in the first half of 2025 were Europe (26 countries) 226,910 tonnes ($156.92 million), China and its autonomous regions 116,320 tonnes ($68.86 million), ASEAN member countries (7 countries) 62,158 tonnes ($43.5 million) and other markets (32 countries) 67,411 tonnes ($59.48 million).
Fragrant rice varieties made up 87%, white rice 9.72%, parboiled rice 1%, organic rice 1.83% and others 0.45%.
Over the same eight-month period, Cambodia also exported 4,848,835 tonnes of unprocessed paddy rice to neighbouring countries, earning $114.25 million. In comparison, during the same period in 2024, Cambodia exported 3,318,592 tonnes of paddy and earned USD 918.16 million.
On September 9, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Dith Tina invited his Philippine’s counterpart Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. to visit Cambodia’s Khmer Food Group in Kampong Speu province and the Tram Kak Modern Agricultural Community in Takeo province.
During the visit, the two ministers and their delegations inspected a rice milling facility, sampled Cambodian cooked rice and attended a presentation which focused on premium Cambodian rice varieties such as Phka Rumduol, Sen Kra Ob and Sror Nge, which are cultivated by local modern agricultural communities.
The visit also included discussions with company representatives regarding the potential for increasing Cambodian rice exports to the Philippines.
Laurel Jr. expressed his gratitude to the Cambodian delegation for sharing essential insights on Cambodia’s agricultural potential and emphasised the importance of enhancing agri-trade cooperation between the two countries.
