KATHMANDU – Children soared high on a bamboo swing at Narayanchaur in Changunarayan Municipality, Bhaktapur, on Monday, filling the air with laughter and cheer. The swings, a staple of Dashain celebrations, embody the festive tradition that everyone should rise off the ground at least once during the holiday. The scene reflected the joy, colour, and energy that define Nepal’s biggest festival.

The festive spirit extended across the city as travellers packed vehicles, heading to their hometowns for family gatherings, and devotees thronged the Panchakumari temple in Maitidevi for Phoolpati.

Here are some photos capturing the Dashain vibes.
