The inaugural Diamond Hexagon Cooperation and Yunnan-Jiangxi-Cambodia Think Tank Forum was held on June 16 in Yunnan province, China, an event jointly staged by the two countries.
The forum’s theme centred on building a Cambodia-China Community of Common Destiny within the Diamond Hexagon Cooperation framework.
On June 17, Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation disclosed that ministry secretary of state Soeung Rathchavy partook in the forum’s opening ceremony. She delivered her remarks via a video link.
In a move towards a more strategic partnership, Cambodia and China inked a “diamond” cooperation agreement in February. The framework focused on fostering collaboration in six priority sectors: political cooperation, quality and capacity building, agricultural production, energy, security, and people-to-people exchanges.
This bilateral commitment was affirmed during a three-day state visit to China by Prime Minister Hun Sen in early February, when he also met Chinese President Xi Jinping.
