Despite recent issues with online scams, which the government is actively working to completely eradicate, Cambodia remains a safe and welcoming tourist destination, said the Ministry of Tourism.
In a March 9 notice, the ministry explained that Cambodia continues to be a safe tourist destination characterised by political stability and excellent social order, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere to tourists from all over the world.
“Even though the world is facing many challenges — including rapid changes in regional and global geopolitical and security situations, climate change, infectious diseases and cyber scam crimes — the Kingdom of Cambodia continues to firmly maintain peace, security, safety and excellent social order,” it said.
The ministry added that the government ensures that travel by land, water and air is safe, and that tourists can be confident that they will receive a warm welcome, it added.
It noted that the government has fostered close cooperation among state institutions, international partners and the private sector. It continues to implement strict measures to crack down on all types of crimes, particularly technology-based scams, in order to ensure safety and boost confidence for all tourists.
“In light of the above, the tourism ministry calls on all tourists who love Cambodia to continue visiting with full confidence, a sense of safety and warmth,” it said.
It appealed to all guests to “continue supporting and widely promoting to the world that Cambodia is a wondrous land full of rich cultural heritage, beautiful natural landscapes, a harmonious society and friendly people”.
