Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence has firmly rejected an allegation by Thailand that more than 250 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were launched from Cambodian territory and violated Thai airspace, calling the claim “completely unfounded”.
In a statement issued on December 29, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence, said the Cambodian side categorically denies the accusation announced by Thailand earlier the same day.

“The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia completely refutes these accusations,” she said, stressing that Cambodia remains fully committed to maintaining peace and stability along the shared border.
The ministry reaffirmed the government of Cambodia’s adherence to the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) between Cambodia and Thailand on December 27, 2025, as well as the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement signed on October 26, 2025.

According to the statement, these agreements are aimed at restoring calm, security and normality for communities living along the border.

Socheata said Cambodian authorities, including provincial administrations in border areas, have issued strict instructions prohibiting the launch of all types of unmanned aerial vehicles.

“We confirm that no such drone launches have occurred,” she said.

The ministry also called on the public and both national and international media to rely on verified information, underlining Cambodia’s position that it continues to act in good faith to uphold bilateral agreements and prevent renewed tensions.
