Two ministries have made it easier for citizens to use personal identity documents when accessing various public services, meaning citizens are no longer required to produce One Window-certified copies of their National Identity Cards.
Previously, a task like transferring vehicle required applicants to submit certified copies.
To have a copy certified generally meant taking at least five photocopies to a One Window Service Office and then waiting three working days. The service was free of charge.
Now however, according to a March 9 circular issued by the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, this requirement is now just one of four options available to citizens.
The most convenient option for citizens is to use a standard photocopy of their Khmer identity card. The applicant simply needs to provide their thumbprint on the photocopy in front of the officer providing the service, while also presenting the original card.
The other two options include an original of Letter Attesting of Personal Identity or a Letter Confirming Accuracy of Personal Identity Data, both issued by the General Department of Identification.
