Two Chinese men have been implicated in an international drug trafficking case after authorities discovered approximately two kilogrammes of methamphetamine hidden in packages sent from Cambodia to Japan through Cambodia Post.
“On July 3, 2025, X-ray specialists at Cambodia Post (Wat Phnom) inspected two parcels bound for Japan and discovered 2.164 kilogrammes of crystal-clear methamphetamine,” explained a July 15 statement from the Phnom Penh Municipal Court prosecutor’s office.
Following the discovery, authorities raided the apartment of the senders, located in a condominium in Toul Sangke 1, Russey Keo district. The search uncovered drug paraphernalia and samples of coloured powder.
The statement noted that three individuals were detained for questioning: Yang Jia Xu, also known as “Taco”, a 44-year-old citizen of Chinese Taipei, Lin Cheng Tsung, his 37-year-old countryman, and a Cambodian woman.
“Yang, alias Taco, confessed to illegally crossing the border from Taiwan into the Kingdom of Cambodia in 2024,” the statement said. Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify any accomplices who may be involved in the drug trafficking operation.
The two male suspects have been formally charged. The Cambodian woman was released due to lack of sufficient evidence.
