From dawn until noon today, the Thai military launched attacks on Cambodia with artillery, F-16 fighter jets, DK (recoilless rifle) rounds and armoured vehicles. Cambodian troops are standing firm against the enemy, according to the Ministry of National Defence.
Just before noon, the Thai military shelled Military Region 5 in Phnom Proek and Sampov Loun districts, Battambang province. They reportedly fired indiscriminately, targeting civilians.
The defence ministry reported that at 11.15am, the Thais fired two artillery shells into Chakrei commune, Phnom Proek district, Battambang province. At 11.30 a combined force of infantry and armoured vehicles assaulted Ta Sda commune, Sampov Loun district.
Also within the territory of Military Region 5, at Chey Chomneah village, Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, the Thais opened fire at 9am, firing an artillery shell into the Chey Chomneah area. At 9.08am, they fired two DK rounds and used drones to drop bombs on the Chey Chomneah area of Thma Da commune, in Veal Veng district.
In Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces, they launched heavy offensives at Bos Sbov and Choam Tae at 8.55am. At 9.40am, multiple airstrikes hit Mom Bei, An Ses, Phnum Khmoch and Preah Vihear Temple.
At 9.45am, Thai infantry entered the Veal Intri pass and Chamkar Chek, and at 10.13am, they launched a heavy attack on the An Ses area.
In Banteay Meanchey province, F-16 fighter jets overflew O Beichoan commune and the Poipet area at 9.45am. At 9.50am, they circled the Stung Bot roundabout in Poipet town, twice.
At 9.50, they dropped bombs on Slor Kram village, Slor Kram commune, Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey province.
“Cambodian forces are fighting back against the invading enemy and are standing firm in fulfilling their duty to protect Cambodia’s territorial integrity,” said Maly Socheata, defence ministry spokesperson.
