Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence has drawn the attention of the public — and the international community — to comments made by Boonsin Padklang, commander of Thailand’s Second Army Region. Yesterday, August 10, he shared his intention to occupy Cambodian territory by force.

Yesterday, with just 51 days remaining before his retirement, the Thai commander publicly announced plans to seize the Ta Krabey Temple from Cambodia’s legitimate control and declare the closure of Ta Mone Thom Temple, which lies entirely within Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“The actions of the Thai Commander of the Second Army Region are a violation of the ceasefire agreement reached at the special meeting on July 28, 2025, as well as the spirit of the extraordinary meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) held on August 7, 2025, in Malaysia,” said a ministry statement.

“During the extraordinary GBC meeting, the Cambodian and Thai sides agreed — notably in Point Two — that both sides must not move their troops or patrol beyond their existing positions,” it added.

Reaffirming Cambodia’s commitment to a peaceful resolution and strict adherence to the ceasefire, the ministry called on the international community — especially the partner nations that worked hard to secure the current truce — to press the Thai side to respect the agreement not only in words but also in concrete actions.

Cambodia demanded that all violations cease immediately and that the illegal barbed wire which have been placed within Cambodian territory be removed without delay.
