His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni expressed his pleasure regarding the strong unity and solidarity displayed by the Khmer people in the face of threats to Cambodia’s territorial integrity.

In a Royal address to the opening ceremony of the National Assembly session on November 28, the King stated: “Esteemed members of the Assembly and beloved compatriots! I am extremely pleased to have noted that the Cambodian nation has achieved strong unity and solidarity in the circumstance where our Kingdom of Cambodia faces threats to its sovereignty and territorial integrity from invading enemies.”

The King also sent his regards to the “brave and valiant” soldiers who are defending national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity for the motherland and citizens across Cambodia.

“Concurrently, I express appreciation for the strong spirit of solidarity of the Khmer people, both inside and outside the country, in defending peace and territorial integrity with dignity, non-violence and great patience, fitting of a people from a country with a high civilisation, ancient culture and excellent morality,” he said.

He commended the National Assembly and its various commissions for serving the electorate. This includes visiting and delivering gifts to the soldiers stationed on the frontline battlefields, as well as the citizens who have been evacuated from the border conflict zones to safe areas.

The King also praised the government leadership for developing the country by prioritising “People, Roads, Electricity, Water and Technology” to transform Cambodia into a country with sustainable and inclusive socio-economic development, aiming to achieve the Cambodia 2030 Vision of becoming an upper-middle-income country and a high-income one by 2050.

The King also welcomed the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet and that of Hun Sen, president of the Senate, in continuing this development, especially their mission of protecting the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, rights, freedom and dignity of every citizen through diplomatic mechanisms and international law.
