Prime Minister Hun Manet has congratulated new Thai Prime Minster Anutin Charnvirakul on his election as the 32nd Prime Minister of Thailand. He expected that the new Thai leader will work with Cambodia to restore normalcy between the two neighbouring kingdoms.
In a September 7 letter, Manet noted that Cambodia and Thailand are the immediate neighbours by geography and fellow members of ASEAN. He expressed how peace, harmonious coexistence and shared prosperity are the aspirations of both peoples.
“Therefore, it is my sincere hope that with our shared commitment to building cordial ties and good cooperation, our two peoples will enjoy prosperity and thrive in harmony and joy,” he wrote.
“With this spirit, I look forward to working closely with you to restore the relations between Cambodia and Thailand to normalcy, rebuild mutual trust and transform the shared border between our two Kingdoms into one of peace, cooperation, development and shared prosperity,” he added.
Anutin Charnvirakul officially become the 32nd Prime Minister of Thailand today, after being accredited by the Thai King. In a speech today, he vowed to solve the Thai-Cambodian border conflict in a peaceful manner.
