All trainers have been urged to continually enhance their skills to guarantee their effectiveness and ensure that students acquire tangible abilities and recognition.
Minister of Labour and Vocational Training Heng Sour made the call during the conclusion of an instructional course titled “Teaching Methods and Use of Professional Modules” held on November 4 at the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC).
The event aimed to bolster the vocational and technical abilities of youth, particularly those who are impoverished and at risk.
A total of 245 individuals graduated from the inaugural session of the course, which started on October 26.
Sour emphasised the critical role of teachers in the success of the initiative, highlighting the necessity for them to regularly update their teaching skills to effectively impart knowledge.
“We required an engaging, straightforward and quickly comprehensible approach to lessons. It is vital for teachers to engage in practical workshops to ensure their efficacy and to gain recognition from key stakeholders, especially the private sector,” he stated.
He urged trainees to follow the recommendation of Prime Minister Hun Manet, “Learn to completion, learn to gain knowledge and secure employment”.
Chak Chornly, a civil construction technician from the Regional Polytechnic Institute Techo Sen Svay Rieng, praised the ministry for its strategic focus.
“The technical skills imparted are concrete and the lessons have equipped us with definitive abilities,” he said, acknowledging the ministry for deploying top instructors for the programme.
He expressed gratitude to the government and the ministry for offering free classes, which he considers beneficial in improving the livelihoods of vulnerable families.
Wedding planner Prum Yaro, from the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Phnom Penh, noted the benefits of the programme.
“I feel that I’ve improved since completing the course. It has provided clarity and certainty to us trainers, especially those of us who previously lacked clear experience,” she added.
Having completed the workshop, she resolved to enhance her ability to impart her newly acquired knowledge to other trainees.
The government, in collaboration with the ministry, has unveiled a plan to offer vocational and technical coaching to approximately 1.5 million young individuals from economically disadvantaged and vulnerable backgrounds. The initiative will be conducted at state institutions free of charge and will include a monthly stipend for the participants.
The programme’s official launch is scheduled for November 14, with Prime Minister Hun Manet set to attend the inaugural ceremony.
