The Phnom Penh Municipal Military Police raided a location referred to as the “Secret House” on the night of January 15, seizing over 300,000 vapes and accessories. The goods were estimated to be worth millions of dollars.
Rath Sreang, commander of the Phnom Penh Military Police, said today, January 17, that the name was given its nick name by its student customers.
The house, located at No. 52, Street 172, in Chey Chumneah commune, Daun Penh district, is owned by Tang Sokheng, a 58-year-old male.
According to Sreang, forces from the police’s Anti-Drug Bureau worked with the Deputy Prosecutor attached to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to plan the operation.
They confiscated 268,504 assorted vaping devices, 69,615 assorted vape pods/heads, 792 bottles of vape juice and 443 marijuana grinders.
“Authorities have detained the owner of the location and sent him to the Phnom Penh Municipal Gendarmerie Command for legal proceedings. The Phnom Penh Gendarmerie has previously prevented and cracked down on many similar cases,” said Sreang.
“The Royal Government has issued orders strictly prohibiting the import, distribution, advertising, usage, possession, production and storage of electronic devices and chemical substances for smoking and shisha of all types. This order aims to prevent and solve problems in a timely manner, to maintain social order, and to protect public health, especially the health of students and educational staff,” he added.
