Seventy-five Thai nationals, including 48 women, were detained by Cambodian authorities during a raid on a farm in Phum Koh Krabei 1, Sangkat Prek Thmey, in the capital’s Chbar Ampov district.

The December 9 raid followed a police investigation into reports of clandestine criminal activities involving technology-based fraud at the property.

The operation was carried out under the guidance and coordination of the Commission for Combating Technology Crimes (CCTC) Secretariat. During the operation, authorities confiscated material evidence, including laptops and a number of mobile phones, according to the committee.

The CCTC explained that specialised authorities are cooperating with relevant units to conduct further investigations aimed at taking legal action against the ringleaders of the operation.

The detainees and seized evidence have been passed to the national police for legal proceedings.

“Within the framework of the campaign to clean up technology-based fraud, joint forces across the country are continuing to pursue the strictest legal action against all ringleaders involved in these online scam activities, without exception,” said the CCTC.

The operation took place at the Xin Du Hai building, located in Village 4, Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville, following confirmation of clandestine online scam activities.

During the raid, the authorities confiscated a large quantity of evidence, including 63 computers, 60 mobile phones and 60 tablets.

An investigation to determine the masterminds behind the operation is underway. The suspects and evidence have been handed over to the Police Commissariat and the joint Cambodia-Korea working group for legal processing.
