Five Vietnamese and a Cambodian have been arrested and sent to court in Phnom Penh and Svay Rieng province in connection with two separate drug cases involving more than 4 kilogrammes of narcotics and over 130 pills.

The Anti-Drug Department reported on June 16 that the four kilogrammes of drugs were discovered during an operation in Prakar village, Prey Sar commune, Dangkor district, Phnom Penh.

A 32-year-old man was arrested, and 707 grammes of ketamine, more than 2,066 grammes of MDMA (ecstasy) and over 1,292 grammes of methamphetamine (ice) was seized.

The suspect and the evidence were submitted to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court. The operation was personally led by General Khoeng Sarath, director of the Anti-Drug Department, in cooperation with other relevant authorities.

In a separate case, five Vietnamese nationals, including one woman, were arrested by the Svay Rieng provincial anti-drug police for involvement in the illegal trafficking, possession, and use of narcotics, as well as the unauthorised possession of firearms and ammunition.

The crackdown was conducted over two days, from June 8 to 11, 2025, in Bavet town. More than 10 types of evidence were confiscated, including 14.2 grammes of ketamine and 11.85 grammes of methamphetamine, as well as more than 100 ketamine and MDMA pills and three handguns with ammunition.

All five Vietnamese suspects were sent to the Svay Rieng Provincial Court.

In the first five months of 2025, authorities have seized over two tonnes of narcotics and chemical precursors in 4,134 anti-drug operations. They arrested 10,765 people in connection with the busts, including 862 women.
