Cambodia’s ruling Cambodian People’s Party are hosting a trilateral summit attended by senior officials from the CPP, the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
CPP president Hun Sen, president of the Cambodian Senate, To Lam, general-secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Thongloun Sisoulith, general-secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, attended the February 6 summit.
The summit, held at the CCP headquarters, aimed to enhance friendship, traditional solidarity, cooperation and mutual support, with the aim of addressing various issues within the relations of the three parties, according to the CPP.
“The meeting was conducted in a spirit of mutual respect for independence, sovereignty, peace, and sustainable development for the benefit of the parties, the states and the people of the three countries. The meeting also aimed to contribute to building and protecting peace and prosperity in the region and the world,” explained a CPP statement.
In 2025, the trilateral summit of the ruling political parties of Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos — former Indochinese allies — was held in Vietnam.
