The Cambodia SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC) convened a special security meeting to examine preparations for the upcoming 32nd SEA Games and exchange views on potential challenges they may arise.

Chaired by CAMSOC secretary-general Vath Chamroeun, the April 19 meeting was held at the Morodok Techo National Stadium. Also present at the meeting were National Police deputy chief Him Yan and many national police officers.

“We met with officers from across the country, and conducted a detailed risk analysis of each of the scheduled events, including crowd management. It is important that we are able to foresee any risks to public order that may occur, so we can plan accordingly,” said Chamroeun.

“We paid especially close attention the crowd numbers that we are expecting, and their composition. It is crucial that we avoid clashes between rival groups of fans,” he added.

He said National police chief Neth Savoeun had ordered thousands of officers to be deployed at sporting venues, as well as hotels.

“What we need to understand is that security must be guaranteed at all times. It is our great honour to host the athletes and delegates of so many countries, but it is also our responsibility that they return home safely,” he added.
