Cambodian carom billiards star Sruong Pheavy has maintained her fierce reputation on the South Korean professional circuit, defeating strong rival Min-a Kim in the final on Sunday to become champion of the LPBA Charity Championship 25-26.
Despite being very busy with efforts to establish a fund to raise money for the soldiers and displaced civilians affected by the recent armed conflict along the Cambodia–Thailand border, she was able to find her focus when it mattered.
She used the pain of the Cambodian people as motivation, pushing herself to become even stronger and ultimately winning the prestigious championship.
Representing Nonghyup Bank, she posted several photos of her victory online.
“This daughter of Cambodia has taken another No. 1 spot. The pain of the people pushed my heart to be only brave and unyielding! Khmer women are strong; Khmer have power,” she wrote.
The LPBA Charity Championship began on August 3 and featured 147 participants, including 7 wildcard entries. Through determined and skillful play, Pheavy advanced steadily, securing consecutive wins to reach both the semifinals and the finals.

In the August 8 semifinal, she defeated South Korea’s top player Ji-eun Han and earned the right to face her old rival Min-a Kim in the final. Min-a Kim had earlier defeated fellow South Korean Ji-yeon Jeon in the semifinals.
The matchup between was more than just a battle for the title — it was a chance for Pheavy to settle old scores. Min-a Kim had previously handed Pheavy two painful defeats in LPBA events.
The audience was thrilled when Pheavy triumphed over Min-a Kim to claim the championship.
Pheavy expressed huge pride in claiming the title, as well as the close to $30,000 prize purse. This was her ninth championship title on the LPBA Tour, but she is far from done. Pheavy has vowed to continue competing to win more trophies and to elevate Cambodia’s name even higher on the international stage.
“Beloved people, your support and trust have given me strength. I will continue to work with all my ability to raise the name of Cambodia and make you proud. My people — my victory is your victory! Cambodia is strong,” said the Tboung Khmum native.
