Visakha head coach Gerard Jones has declared his team ready to welcome MOI Kampong Dewa in this weekend’s Cambodian Premier League (CPL) clash on Sunday, and aims to give supporters something to cheer about — even as the visitors set their sights on securing another three points.
Jones posted a video recap of last Sunday’s dramatic comeback, when Visakha overturned a 2–0 deficit to beat Life FC 3–2, earning their first three points of the season after a 2–1 opening-day loss to the Army team on August 9.
Building on that hard-fought win, Jones said he wants to deliver more excitement to Visakha’s fans when the team opens Prince Stadium’s gates at 6pm this Sunday, August 24, to host MOI Kampong Dewa.
“In last week’s match we showed what we are capable of by coming back to win. Now, all of our preparations are focused on Sunday’s match. We want to give the fans something to get excited about, and our full concentration is on this game. Every training session, every detail and every measure of strength has been aimed at this match. We are completely ready,” he said.
On the other side, MOI Kampong Dewa’s Spanish coach Alejandro Rodriguez is also in high spirits, after guiding his team to a 4–2 victory over Kirivong Sok Sen Chey on August 16, following their 6–3 opening-day loss to Angkor Tiger on August 10.

After last weekend’s win, Rodriguez said he would work to fix weaknesses and sharpen his team’s performance in order to score more goals, as he is determined to collect three points in consecutive matches — especially against Visakha this Sunday.
“Every coach wants to win, and I am no different. I want victories and I want to see the team at the top of the table. Sometimes you think it’s not possible, because some matches you win and some you don’t. But I am here to keep winning matches and get three points. Even though Visakha look strong and are improving, my objective is to win this match — and every match,” he explained.
