In an exciting development for Siem Reap’s business community, a landmark seller-buyer matching forum is set to take place.
For the first time in the province, the event aims to showcase products and foster partnerships, bolstering confidence in local offerings.
The National Committee for the Promotion of the One Village One Product (OVOP) Movement recently met in the province to fine-tune preparations for this unique forum, set to connect producers and buyers.
This effort forms part of a wider market access scheme for Cambodia’s small and medium enterprises.
From August 25 to 27, this trailblazing forum will unfold at Makro wholesale market in Siem Reap.
“The forum will be set up to display products, connect businesses and build consumer trust. We’re planning to highlight more than 70 products from local producers, traders, craft co-ops, and small to medium-sized businesses,” said Yun Linne, deputy governor of the province and deputy chairman of OVOP.
Linne went on to highlight the forum’s potential as a marketing boon. He believes it offers local producers and businesses a prime chance to connect with potential buyers and discuss supply needs.
The provincial administration has sent out an open invitation, urging communities, organisations, producers, and businesses with quality products, clear labelling and proper packaging to join the forum.
Participation could enhance their customer support, preserve market equilibrium and boost economic growth.
Hong Vanak, an economics researcher at the Royal Academy of Cambodia, views the forum as an avenue to expand the market for Cambodian products and entice tourists.
“I see this as a chance to engage with diverse groups and promote Cambodian products. If the event goes well, it could boost the economy, benefiting both families and producers.
“Ultimately, it paves the way for better quality and global appreciation of Cambodian goods,” he said.
