On Sunday, August 17, history was made as almost 600 students celebrated their successful graduation through the Western Australian Curriculum.
The celebrations, held at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, were presided over by His Excellency Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Youth and Sport and His Excellency Derek Yip, Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
They were joined by Her Excellency Kim Sethany, Permanent Secretary of State, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport; Ms. Melissa Kelly, Associate Director – International Education Strategic and External Relations, School Curriculum and Standards Authority, Western Australia; Mr. Colin Glass, Founder and Board Chair of SpringBoard4Education; Mr. Sen Pidet, Managing Director of SpringBoard4Education
In attendance were more than 1,500 graduates, family members and educators, along with the leaders of many of the international schools which implement the Western Australian Curriculum Program in Phnom Penh and various provinces across Cambodia.
The ceremony followed the Western Australian Curriculum Program graduation in Perth, Western Australia on July 29, creating a truly global celebration of achievement.
The curriculum united students across continents under a single standard of academic excellence, demonstrating the international impact of the programme.

“The number of schools that implement the Western Australian Curriculum in Cambodia has increased to 15, with approximately 4,000 students benefiting from across seven provinces, as well as Phnom Penh. This reflects the trust and confidence placed by parents in the Western Australian Curriculum,” said the education minister.
The Western Australian Curriculum provides not only knowledge and skills, but also the confidence and resilience that students need to thrive in the current competitive world, while offering a pathway to universities and careers worldwide. The programme opens doors to higher education abroad while ensuring students receive an international standard of learning in their home country.

This year’s theme “Celebrating Success Across Continents” reflected the spirit of the day, highlighting both the unity of achievement and the life-changing opportunities that lie ahead.
The presence of so many distinguished guests underscored a shared vision of supporting Cambodian students to reach global standards and of providing inspiration to the next generation of leaders,

As the graduates step forward into the next stage of their educational journey, they carry with them academic excellence, a global perspective and the promise of a future without borders.
The Western Australian Curriculum continues to bridge nations and shape students who will make a lasting impact on the world.
