Three offenders and their accomplices are facing prison sentences ranging from 20 years to life for trafficking more than 1 kilogramme of methamphetamine in Battambang’s Bavel district.
A spokesperson for the Provincial Court of First Instance announced on Monday, September 15, that the provincial police specialised anti-drug unit raided a location in Ream Sena village, in Bavel district’s Lvea commune, on the evening of September 9.
Police arrested three suspects, including one woman, and seized 1,061.04 grammes of methamphetamine (ice). The two men were identified as Teu Tis, 28, and Chhoeum Nan, 31.
The suspects and evidence were sent to the provincial court for legal processing.
The three have been charged with drug trafficking. This offense is punishable under Article 40, paragraph 7, point 4 of the Law on the Control of Drugs, and the case has been forwarded to the investigating judge for further proceedings.
“The three traffickers and any possible accomplices could face prison sentences of 20 to 30 years, or life imprisonment,” the court noted.
The provincial police said the crackdown on drug possession, trafficking and transportation was led by Colonel Sok Nimal, deputy provincial police chief in charge of anti-drug operations.
In addition to the narcotics, officers seized a vehicle, a mobile phone, several small plastic bags and several bottles which were used to smoke the drug.
In the first eight months of 2025, the provincial police have executed 116 court warrants, including those related to criminal offenses and drug crimes. A total of 90 people were arrested and sent to court.
