More than 3,000 high school exam candidates in Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces, who were affected by the recent border clashes between Cambodia and Thailand, have received over $60,000 in financial support from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. The students pledged to work hard to achieve good results in the Grade 12 (Bac II) national examinations, which begin tomorrow, August 28.
The ministry announced on Wednesday, August 27, that the support package for Grade 12 candidates in the two provinces affected by the border fighting has already been distributed.
In Preah Vihear, candidate Chhum Songvoleak from Khemarak Techo High School in Sra Em commune, Chheb district, said the financial support represented valuable encouragement from national leaders to all candidates facing hardships from the conflict.

“All candidates are deeply honoured to receive this aid from education minister Hang Chuon Naron. This is both material support and strong encouragement for us as candidates. After receiving this, we are determined to take the exam hard, and aim for good grades and strong results,” she said.
Last week, Chuon Naron announced the aid package: 1,913 candidates in Preah Vihear each received 50,000 riel and 6 packs of instant noodles, while 1,772 candidates in Oddar Meanchey each received 100,000 riel and 6 packs of noodles.
For the 2025 national high school exam, a total of 146,720 students are registered nationwide, including 81,442 female students. The ministry noted that candidate lists have now been posted at more than 200 exam centres across the country.

The ministry reminded all candidates to carefully check their exam roster, seat number and room assignment, as well as exam timetable and rules, which are posted at every exam centre in the country’s 25 capital-provinces. Candidates must strictly follow exam regulations, especially the ban on bringing any electronic devices into exam centres or rooms.
“Any candidate found violating the rules and discipline will automatically fall the exam,” the ministry warned.
Prime Minister Hun Manet also sent his best wishes to all exam candidates, urging them to strive for success by relying on their own true ability, under the principle: “Those who know will pass”.
